Cell Signaling Technology

Cell signaling lies at the heart of numerous biological processes including all the intricate communication that occurs within and between cells. This complex web of molecular interactions - the signaling pathways- regulate critical cellular processes like growth, proliferation, differentiation, metabolism, and apoptosis. Understanding the intricacies of these pathways is key to understanding how normal cells function and how dysfunction in the signaling cascade(s) leads to disease.

Cell Signaling Technology (CST) is a leading manufacturer providing antibody-based tools and innovations for the study of these cell signaling pathways. CST’s offering includes antibodies, assays, companion products and kits for a wide range of techniques, including western blotting, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence microscopy, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, flow cytometry, and proteomics.

Cell Signaling Technology is well known for its antibodies that are validated for each application. CST set the standards for their antibody validation (Hallmarks of Antibody Validation) more than 20 years ago. Hallmarks of Antibody Validation arose from the need to have an antibody that can be trusted each time. The hallmarks are based in the work by Uhlen, et al. (A proposal for validation of antibodies. Nature Methods 2016).

Shipping Temperature - Questions Answered

Why is my antibody shipped at room temperature?

Cell Signaling Technology manufactures top-quality antibodies, and stability testing is a key component to guaranteeing high quality. Many of CST´s antibodies are unaffected by ambient temperatures during the short shipping period.

Each antibody undergoes testing to determine the impact of exposure to different temperatures over a one-week period. Samples of the antibody are packaged and stored at three temperatures: −20°C, room temperature, and 37°C. At the end of seven days, the antibodies are assessed to determine if there have been changes in their activity at any of the tested temperatures.

Sustainability is important to us

We at BioNordika and our partner CST are always looking for viable ways of reducing our environmental footprint. By testing antibodies for shipping temperature options, the amount of shipping material waste generated can be reduced while still maintaining the highest product quality.

Introducing SignalStar™ Multiplex IHC kit from Cell Signaling Technology

FLEXIBLE PANEL DESIGN

SignalStar Multiplex IHC eliminates the time needed for optimization. Ready-to-go panels let you amplify up to 8 targets in FFPE tissue samples in just 2 days. SignalStar antibodies and fluorophores are interchangeable across panels, giving you the flexibility to change targets within panels anytime.

RESULTS UP TO 70% FASTER

SignalStar technology is up to 70% faster from sample to imaging than other mIHC methods. Customized panels are created online in an IHC Panel Builder tool that shows all available designs.

PLEX YOUR WAY

Define your plex, run the easy-to-use manual or BOND RX protocols, then image and analyze using your existing fluorescent microscope/scanner and software.

FLEXIBLE, READY-TO-USE PANELS

SignalStar technology stains consistently regardless of the panel you design in the panel builder, and panels are ready to use with optimized protocols.

Primary Antibodies

CST is well known for high-quality rabbit monoclonal antibodies (mAb). Rabbit mAbs typically exhibit higher affinity, specificity and stability compared to mouse monoclonals. Rabbit mAbs have improved resistance to denaturation, temperature fluctuations, and proteolytic degradation. Due to their enhanced affinity and specificity, rabbit mAbs are often preferred for immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry applications as they provide more robust staining with lower background, resulting in clearer and more reliable results. Using rabbit mAbs also overcome mouse-on-mouse staining without additional steps in protocol.

Secondary Antibodies

CST provides more than 70 different secondary antibodies for applications like immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry and immunoprecipitation.

Sampler Kits

Sampler kits provide economical means to study one specific signaling cascade. There are more than 300 kits, most of them for Western blotting. The kits include enough antibody (20 µl primary, 100 µl secondary) to run two Westerns. Larger volumes of the antibodies are available separately, if needed for further studies.

Companion Products

CST offers a selection of products required to complete the experimental workflow. These include epitope-tagged and control antibodies, secondary antibodies, detection reagents, experimental controls, standard buffers, and other reagents. These same reagents are used by CST in validation of their the primary antibodies and therefore they work optimally together with the monoclonals in applications like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, chromatin immunoprecipitation and ChIP-seq, and more.
